Elegance should be effortless. It is the antithesis of present-day opulence, which can easily become the first stage of chaotic vulgarity in home décor yet perpetuated my many in the design world.
Our story
Mia Casa Curata (My Curated Home) began as a “direct from manufacturer to client” concept when American Interior Designer Jeff Wade relocated to Porto, Portugal, at the height of the COVID pandemic in 2020, when the word “home” had taken a new meaning. The days of leaving for work at 6:00 a.m. and returning 12-14 hours later had ended. Home had become multi-functional: an office space, a classroom, a restaurant, even a gym. Our worlds centered around “home”.
Begining
After 25 years of luxury residential design experience, Wade found a void in the marketplace during these tumultuous times. Clients were calling asking for virtual design facelifts, ordering became impossible, delivery even worse. After months of frustration, with no end in sight, Wade realized the market had changed. Could it ever go back to what was once the norm? With a resounding “NO”, reinvention was the only solution.
Choosing Porto was no accident. The finest bedding, bath and tabletop manufacturers were minutes from this UNESCO Heritage site—many of whom weave or produce for the most recognizable names in Italy, France, as well as the United States. The finest porcelain and crystal were manufactured nearby. Luxurious cashmere and silk were woven only a short plane ride away. And so, it began…
